dusted off the ol' crochet hook today

Cruising around the internet for unique scarf patterns (okay, so I'm on a scarf kick), I found a really cool one at CrochetMe.com. It's the Corkscrew Scarf, the last one pictured on the page. It's sooooo easy, I mean seriously. All you do is make a chain as long as you want your scarf to be and then you chain 7, single crochet into the next stitch, chain 7, single crochet into the next stitch...see where I'm going here?? Yes it's monotonous, but easily completed in an afternoon, if you don't have a whole lot else to do. ;-)

I also have to show off my present from my lovely knitting friend Kelly. She must have picked up my knitterly vibes of wanting to knit some dishclothes. And of course we share the same passion for green. I took the picture right after I got up, hence the bags under my eyes. I should have held off a little in snapping that shot! (Kelly says there are no bags!)

Kelly and I and our hubbys all went to Cricket Cove in Black's Harbour, New Brunswick on Saturday. It was quite fun, and quite overwhelming choosing what was going to come home with me. My budget was modest, but I think even if I had had a wad of money I still would have had a hard time. Too many nice skeins to want for my very own! Next time I go down there I'll have to take some really good shots of the store, it's quite enthralling!

I'll leave you with pictures of what I walked away with, 2 skeins of Regia sock yarn. My VERY first sock yarn! One will turn into Jaywalkers as per Kelly's recommendation (and I think she's right on), and the other will just be regular striped socks.

house is clean and monday the sign goes up

(I'm more than ready to leave this kitchen behind, I detached myself from it a year ago...I'm ready to love another one, especially if the cupboards are perfect for painting a creamy white or mushroom colour! Do you like our $10 Ikea lights?!)

We signed the papers with our real estate agent today, agreed on a fair but enticing price, and are working hard on the finishing touches to prepare for showings. My fantasy is that we show it once, get an offer, negotiate, and sign the deal. A girl can dream! I am desperate to get on with life. We've been in this process since June 2005, when we started to get the place ready to sell the following fall.

Hopefully I can fit in some knitting tomorrow, but we have some last minute painting to do. I also have closets to deal with, oh my gosh and some more cleaning....and undone laundry.

Thankfully we have a party to look forward to tomorrow night, and then a dinner party on the following night. They will be a welcome break from house stuff!

Not much knitting goin' on...except for a leg warmer

The house is being listed this Friday, so I'm busy getting the place ready....or "lookin' like a magazine" as I sometimes say. Not much knitting has been happening, at least none for my etsy shop. Felted purses have to be put on standby for the time being.

I did end up spontaneously casting on for a leg warmer. I'm not even sure how I got onto the idea, probably saw a picture of someone wearing some over at Flickr's Wardrobe Remix group.

I had about 90% of a skein of Alafoss Lopi and figured a chunky weight wool would make for a quick knit (it did). I'm thinking of making a pair in a brown to match my boot. It could be said that I'm afraid to make it too obvious that I have leg warmers on. Is it just me, or do they kinda have a sexy look to them. I hope so!!

If I turn out a nice pair and get a good response, I'll probably post the very complicated (that's a joke) pattern in the fall.

(sorry for the crappy picture, I had to brighten it a lot to have my reflection show - click to show larger version)

(in progress)

Whatcha think?
